FAQ

Question: What do you do to help us?

Answer: I work with you on your systems. I can help you convert to OS X, install, configure, and maintain your OS X Server, help you find and learn new applications and technologies, and help you plan your technology roadmap from a strategic and tactical standpoint.

Question: How long have you been doing this?

Answer: I've been involved with networks from the DOS days, (before Windows) helping to manage Netware Servers. I also had experience with Unix as a server operating system. I've been using, maintaining, and configuring Macs since somewhere around 1990.

I'm also a member of the Apple Consultants Network, which gives me access to lots of assistance and resources to assist you in your business. I also spend a lot of time learning and researching in order to better help my clients.

Question: What's your working style?

Answer: I'm a pro and a business person. I've been in business, or working in the 'real world' for over 20 years. I speak the language of business and of technology. I was in sales and marketing for years and have been a consultant since 1996. I believe in honest advise and working with you to create and configure solutions to best achieve your organizations goals.

I am not a big fan of "Quick Fixes." My approach is one of a process. I believe in working with you to discover how you work, what things are important to you, and to start to create suggestions on what will best suit your business.

It takes time to do it right, but I have seen the advantages of this approach. Having a plan and an approach to the web can help us make intelligent decisions as to technologies and techniques.

Question: Why the Mac? That's not a real business computer, is it?

Answer: Actually it is. OS X is based on Unix, the industry standard for secure, high performance computing. The Mac has all the business applications you need, like MS Office, Accounting, database, web, and programming apps, in addition to being the perfect system for companies looking to save time and money on their technology costs.

Question: But many other people use Windows? How will I be able to exchange files?

Answer: Easily. The Mac has the ability to read and write almost any file format from any source.

Question: Ok, what about OS X?

Answer: Glad you asked! OS X is the most amazing operating system I've ever seen. It's based on Unix, which means it's stable, fast, and since it's based on standards, has access to thousands of applications written for both Mac and Unix. Oh yeah, with additional software, It'll run Windows as well.

Question: I need a network with a file server.

Answer: Great! With OS X Server, you can share information easily between your Mac, Windows, and Unix systems. You can also set up intranets, serve web pages to the world, strem multimedia, run a mail server, and a host of other things. All with the reliability of Unix and the legendary 'ease of use' of the Macintosh.
